Hanoi - Hà Nội

As the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi (i.e. "Hà Nội" written in Vietnamese) serves as a main hub for visitors who wish to explore the northern part of the country. The ancient city, with its 7-million residents, celebrated its 1000-year anniversary in 2010.

Many tourists found Hanoi worth exploring, especially its old quarter where "Bia Hoi" (local draft beer) is commonly consumed, others said the capital was so boring with all bars officially forced to close before midnight. But all think it is a great stop to prepare for a mountain trekking up north, or a relaxing trip on river just 100 km south of the city, or a great cruise in the infamous Natural Heritage, Hạ Long bay.
